GI (galvanized iron) pipes are made by forming mild steel strips with Low Carbon Steel Colls. The strips are given a circular shape by passing them through a series of fin rolls. By sending a steady stream of high frequency electric current across the edges, the slit ends of the strips are welded together. A sizing section then takes the welded steel pipes and corrects any dimensional deviations. A machine cuts the pipes into desired lengths. The pipes are then pressure tested randomly for leaks.
